  • f6c1eb253 (#15401) Added bundle.windows.bundleVCRuntime to copy the Visual C++ runtime DLLs into Windows MSI and NSIS installers. The bundler locates the runtime through VCTOOLS_REDIST_DIR or the bundled vswhere.exe.
  • f76b1d3ae (#15644) The bundler now prints the size of each generated bundle next to its path in the Finished N bundles at: output (directories such as macOS .app bundles are measured recursively).
  • af465eae1 (#15619) Add a --no-binary-patching flag to tauri build and tauri bundle. When set, the bundler skips patching the main executable with bundle type information (and the subsequent re-signing), leaving an already-signed binary untouched. Patching is only required when shipping multiple bundle types per platform that should each update with their own installer format.

  • 8e7028331 (#16062) Update linuxdeploy and the GTK plugin used for AppImages, fixing EGL_BAD_PARAMETER crashes on newer Mesa and bundling on Fedora and Arch. AppImages no longer force GDK_BACKEND=x11 and now use the native Wayland backend on Wayland sessions.
  • 7164de395 (#15786) Respect an explicitly configured GDK_BACKEND in AppImage GTK hooks while retaining x11 as the default.
  • 15468de79 (#16064) Recognize .deb and .rpm as self contained updater artifacts (the updater plugin installs them directly): the "no updater-enabled targets were built" warning is no longer printed when only a .rpm bundle is produced, and it now lists both targets. Setting createUpdaterArtifacts to "v1Compatible" no longer fails with "Unable to find a bundled project for the updater" when only a .deb bundle is built; the legacy updater never supported .deb, so the bundler now warns that no v1 compatible artifact was created instead.
  • eaf96690d (#15804) On Linux, do not bundle xdg-open and xdg-utils in the AppImage anymore. This rarely worked and usually requires host system support anyway.
  • adf5acf6f (#15651) Fix MSI bundling when an external binary filename starts with a digit.
  • 11012a13f (#15681) Fix WiX bundler doesn't respect the resource's target file name.
  • 33b3ea582 The bundled vswhere.exe is now written to a new, uniquely named temporary file on each use and removed afterwards, instead of running any existing %TEMP%\vswhere.exe.
  • 5e53ee2b8 Sort nested resource directories in the generated WiX file again so their order doesn't change between builds (regression from #15681).

  • 2857c01c6 (#15422 by @koki-develop) Fix NSIS stock plugins (NSISdl.dll, StartMenu.dll, System.dll, nsDialogs.dll) being embedded in the final installer as unsigned despite the signing step succeeding. The signed local copies under <output>/Plugins/x86-unicode/ were not on makensis' plugin search path, so makensis fell back to the unsigned DLLs from the NSIS toolset directory. The fix adds !addplugindir for the signed plugin directory before any plugin command is parsed in the script.

    Notes:

    • For tauri-bundler lib users, the NsisSettings now has 2 new fields uninstaller_icon and uninstaller_header_image which can be a breaking change
    • When bundling with NSIS, users can add uninstallerIcon and uninstallerHeaderImage under bundle > windows > nsis to configure them.

  • cc5c97602 (#14486) Implement file association for Android and iOS.

    • For anyone relying on the WVRTINSTALLED Property tag in main.wxs, it is now renamed to INSTALLED_WEBVIEW2_VERSION

  • be0e4bd2d (#15218) Added Vietnamese translations for the NSIS installer

  • 1035f12ee (#14923) Signtool path for windows arm systems was not being properly returned which caused failure in signing of windows binaries.

    This patch addresses it.

    • PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_AMD64
